due to the my lack of time i have for myself and for others, i've temporarily stopped blogging for the time being. i think i may have to resort to the old fashion way of communicating with others by way of going face-to-face. it's an old way but hey! it works for me.

i am however, updating my gallery from time to time. i've been quite the shutterbug for the past couple of weeks so i should get some of these pics up for sharing. i suppose that's where the trade off is.

see you someday

i wish myself and good and hearty welcome back to the wonderful world of blogging! been quite awhile since i've entered things in here, 2 weeks of it mostly due to me being on my travel alberta - mountain adventure vacation. mind you, for those 2 weeks i did make a journal but i did it in the traditional form of pen and paper! i don't think i'll be re-typing it as i think it will lose its appeal with all scratched out typpos and such.

but in case you're wondering, i did have a blast. you can check out just SOME of the pics that i took in my gallery section. i also had 3 rolls fo film developed - mostly my from my 2 white water rafting trips. digital camera + water = unlikely happening. since i dont have access to a scanner, just ask me to bring my photo album if you were to see me. better off this way so i can tell my stories. better to hear from me than what i'd type.

that's all i've got for the time being. i got more stuff that i should be typing but it'll remain in my wee little head for now. there's a little thing called "sleep" tht i should be investing son as i haven't been doing that for that past couple of days. damn these late night olympic telecasts! so will i finally get back on track with this journal of mine this week? stay tuned and find out cause not even i will know! can you just taste the suspense? no.. wait.. just some winterfresh colgate aftertaste.

holy cow! it's been awhile since i last posted here. i guess that could only mean one thing: i'm too busy SCHEMING things at the moment to jot something down in this journal!! and it will be quite awhile until i post something here again

today is the 1st day of my week and half vacation. i'll be "heading for the hills" as they say except replace "hills" with "mountains." i thought giving myself 2-3 weeks planning time would give men enough to get organized in terms of setting out an itinerary and accomdations. but just my luck i realized that right in between my vacation is a long weekend. and long weekend usually spell "crowdedness" and "no vacancy". bleh

but luckily a couple of inquires i made last week have finally been responded to within the last 72 hrs. which means i finally get some (more than decent) accomodations and rentals set in place. whew! i'm glad that's settled

so in a nutshell my vacation looks like this:

  • 2 days in grande cache/hinton/brule : canyoning/white water rafting
  • 3 days in jasper: hiking/biking/white water rafting
  • 2 days in lake louise/banff/canmore: hiking/canoeing/cycling
  • 3 days in calgary: cycling/lugeing/lounging

sounds like quite the "travel alberta" trip eh? and i hear the weather is gonna be hella awesome leading up to the long weekend and maybe even past that.

so if you don't hear from me in while, this is why. toodles

  • OH TO BE 25 YEARS OLD!..... AGAIN!

    roy's wknd pt 2...

now where was i from before? as yes: nelly furtado's concert

now i saw her perform unexpectedly @ the stampede grounds the night before her concert in edmonton. that was a just a bonus as i didn't know she was performing there. but whether it was the calgary concert or the edmonton concert, she is truly quite the entertainer. and really cute too!

the weird thing about performing in a venue like the winspear centre, it kind of seems like a stuffy place where one would expect to listen to an orchestra, let alone a pop-rock concert. the intial atmosphere as that everyone was groovin but you just wanted to get up and groove. instead, the majority of the crowd was just groovin in their seats as if they were driving in their cars, listening to her live. seemed like people were thinking "gee..i would like to get up and dance on top of my seat but people around me might look at me funny"

finally she got the people to dance up and stay up throughout the whole night (a little "forca" anyone?). even through some of the slower songs, it still had that live and vibrant edge to keep you up. truly one of the best performers to hear live and i can't wait until she releases a live conert dvd.

i have tons of pics but it'll be awhile before i get them posted. but trust me they'll be up in early august when i return back from my vacation.

oh.. and to top the night off after her 1st of 2 concerts in our city,  my friend and i were walking towards my car when we saw some people waiting in the back. so we're thinking "hmm.. you think she's still here? there's a couple of budget rentavans still waiting in the back.. lets go hang out for a while and who knows?"

that "who knows" turned into a "waddyaknow.." she did come out shortly thereafter to sign a couple of autographs and take a few pictures.  there was only a small number of us waiting, like under 15 or so, o she was able to accommodate us all.  i think i was so enamoured by her case she really looks beautiful in real life, that i forgot to mention "oh hi nelly! i loved your concert today.. as well as the one in calgary the night  before." she even signed my ticket stub "to ROY NELLY!" truly an awesome night to cap off a busy weekend

what a busy weekend i just had - so many things happening in the last 48 hrs so i'll try to type up whatever i can recall

  • drove down to calgary saturday morning on my brand new tires. financially, i was hoping to replace these tires in september but due to a nice flat a few days ago, it was better off to replace them all rather than pay for repair costs for something i would eventually replace. i swear this must be on of the quickest/busiest visits i've done in awhile

  • went to check out cirque du soleil saturday afternoon and it wasn't good at all... it was HELLA AWESOME! i mean, the guy was skipping rope within a jump rope i tell ya! and this other guys was balancing this girl, back of the to the neck -to- back of the neck, standing up, without holding hands! :O there's much more i could write and descibe but then it'd look like i was writing a thesis.

and to those that complain that the ticket prices were too much, i'd tell them to get with it. i mean, i bought the cheapest seat online for $75.00 + s/c but there's no bad seat in the house. i was closer to the stage than i antcipated. and to see the performers perform they way they do, with such mastery, fluidity and control - it was totally worth the price of going. these guys train hard but they make it look so effortless - truly an amazing show if you get the chance to see it.  with that in mind, i would mind checking out the other cirque shows in vegas "o" and "mystere"

  • after the show was pretty much a gong show. some of the people i tried to gather for a some quick din-din had other committments to attend to (which is ok with me if they let me know beforehand) while some other people didn't know if they were either coming or going and just love leaving things til the last minute - which is a really BIG pet peeve of mine. lucky for me i usually have a back up plan in mind and was able to meet up with some friends of mine @ the stampede grounds. and this day was blazin hot i tell you. BLAZIN! the evening was close to 32-35C, coupled with that 150,000+ people on the stampede grounds.  fun times indeed.  and just my luck, i found out a few days prior that target="nf">nelly furtado would be performing for free on the gorunds! lucky me who also has a ticket to see her SOLD OUT show the following day!

  • after the fireworks, i headed down to the mynt niteclub as was suggested by one of my friends. this place is pretty cool actually as we dont have this kind of club back here: the place was small and narrow but it had 3 levels, with the lower level having 3 rooms. and what's cool about this club was the rooftop patio where you lounge around and about, while chillin to some deep house music, a genre they dont play as much here in edmonton.  and i'm all about the deep house music. i was suppose to meet other friends there but that didn't work out due to a pre-drinking incident *cue the GONG*

  • sunday afternoon was still blazingly hot. even got the chance to throw the frisbee around prince edward park in the eau claire area before cruising down hwy 2 and back home. i think i was home for about 30 min before i was out the door again. just enough time to fix a quick salad, freshen up from the ride home and ready to pick my friend up to watch nelly furtado (AGAIN) @ the winspear centre.

i'll type more about this concert later on this week. right i have to look at investing in this concept called "rest" as i'm sure this will be another busy week.

    toodles

i place this entry to show that i'm still kicking around... somewhat.

been pretty crazy as of late, as i'm planning on headin down to calgary to check out cirque du soleil and maybe check out the calgary stampede grounds.  then its off to work for like a week and half and then its the start of my week+ long vacation, which i really need to the finishing touches on

so if you notice a gap in etry dates,  you know that life happens but i will try tp update whenever i get the breathing chance to do so.  later alligators

Welcome to my homepage which I like to call my "Perpetual Work in Progress." This page has been up since 1996 but I don't know if I'll ever find a style that I'll stick with as this page seems to change every year (or sooner). So why do I have a homepage? I figure that since everyone else has a homepage, I thought I would make one for myself as well. And so, here I am...
